About Anita Fraser

Partner, McKercher LLP

Anita is a partner in the McKercher LLP Saskatoon office where her practice is focused in the area of civil litigation with a special interest in health law, privacy law and professional disciplinary matters.

Anita (Wandzura) Fraser returned to McKercher LLP in 2016 from the United Kingdom, where she received her Master of Laws in Medical Law (with Distinction) from Queen Mary University of London. Anita originally joined the Firm in 2009 after clerking with the Court of Queen’s Bench for Saskatchewan. She joined the partnership in 2020.

Anita practices in the area of civil litigation with a special interest in health law, privacy law, and professional disciplinary matters. She acts for both health care professionals and regulators. Anita has appeared before all levels of Saskatchewan court and Federal court, as well as various administrative tribunals. Anita obtained a Certificate in Privacy Law and Information Management in Healthcare from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2022.

Anita has taught Health Law at the University of Saskatchewan College of Law, as well as Health Law & Policy at the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy.

In August 2008, Anita was honoured with the Canadian Bar Association’s Edward K. Rowan-Legg Award for her contribution to the Association as a student member.

About Katie Newman

Associate, McKercher LLP

Katie is an associate in the McKercher LLP Saskatoon office.

Katie maintains a general civil litigation practice with a primary focus on health law and insurance defence. She has appeared before all levels of court in Saskatchewan, as well as various administrative tribunals. As part of her practice, Katie has a particular focus in privacy law, advising clients from a broad range of industries on information privacy, access to information, data sharing, privacy law interpretation and compliance.

Prior to joining McKercher LLP, Katie was an associate at another Western Canadian law firm, practicing primarily in the areas of civil litigation, privacy, and cybersecurity.

Before attending law school, Katie earned a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from McGill University and was an active orchestral and chamber musician in both Montreal and her hometown of Regina. During her legal studies, Katie competed on the Gale Cup Moot Team and the International Academy of Dispute Resolution Mediation Moot Team and volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada.

Katie was recently recognized by her peers in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada™ 2026 for her work in Alternative Dispute Resolution & Privacy and Data Security Law in Saskatoon. She has been recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada™ since 2025.
