The Business of Dentistry

About this Seminar

In this session all aspects of the business aspect of dentistry will be discussed. First, we will discuss the two paths available for dentists being ownership or associateship. These two paths will be examined and road map for success in both will be outlined. After an examination of the two paths all things ownership will be discussed: staffing and the importance of building a strong team, systemization of the dental practice, cross training, start-ups versus acquisitions, as well as a rough outline of the costs of starting a dental practice will be outlined. This session will broaden your knowledge on all aspects of dental practice operations and help you determine how you can improve your daily operations.


Objectives:


After attending this session attendees should be able to:



  1. Determine which path is right for them- ownership or associateship

  2. Understand what a strong team looks like and how to build one

  3. Understand which systems in a dental practice are crucial for operational excellence

  4. Understand how to set up systems with staff

  5. Understand how cross training can increase operational efficiency

  6. Understand the costs and risks involved in doing a dental start-up

Dr. Amanda Beaudry

About Dr. Amanda Beaudry

Amanda was born & raised in Saskatoon, SK. At the University of Saskatchewan, Amanda completed her Bachelor of Education before entering the College of Dentistry where she graduated from in 2015. After graduating Amanda worked as an associate for a couple of years and then entered the world of dental business ownership. Amanda has experience in both dental clinic acquisition, as well as numerous start-ups in Saskatoon. Eager to learn more about business as a whole, Amanda used the time during covid as an opportunity to attain her Master of Business of Administration from the U of S in 2021. Amanda hopes to share her knowledge in her presentation on dental practice operations.
