Management of soft tissues in the esthetic zone. Achieving health and esthetics, around teeth and dental implants
About this Seminar
Smile aesthetics have been shown to play a major role in a person's appearance, self-confidence, and social life. Integral to harmonizing smile aesthetics is the perfect integration of facial aesthetics and dental composition, as these relate to the teeth and gingival tissues. After reviewing the critical elements of dentofacial aesthetics, this lecture will focus on gingival recession, excessive gingival display, better known as "gummy smile", and peri-implant soft tissue defects. This presentation will provide insight on the proper diagnosis, appropriate treatment planning and correct staging in the delivery of treatment, for each condition. Finally, the presentation will review a variety of aesthetic cases, emphasizing the importance of communication between all stakeholders.
Educational Objectives
After completion of this course, each participant will be able to:
- Understand the elements of facial aesthetics and dentofacial composition.
- Diagnose aesthetic problems as they relate to gingival tissues (excessive gingival display, gingival recession, peri-implant tissue defects).
- Assess various treatment options concerning aesthetic challenges.
- Incorporate clinical tips and techniques that will yield more predictable results in aesthetic cases.
- Appreciate the effect of soft tissue augmentation on dental esthetics, and long-term peri-implant tissue health.
